LIMITED EDITION COLLECTOR'S COMPILATION REGGAE CD COMING OUT TO RAISE MONEY FOR PETER TOSH TRIBUTE ALBUM PROJECT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 16, 2003 One Thousand copies are now available for sale of "Put My Faith in Jah" a fund raising compilation CD currently available through the Peter Tosh Tribute Album website. www.ptosh.com. The release features top tracks from Toots & The Maytals, Peter Broggs, Joe Higgs, Big Mountain, Bob Andy, Edi Fitzroy, Peter Tosh, The Indika Reggae Band, B.E. Mann (former lead singer of Island Records, Identity) Dub Station & Sonbeam, Natty Remo, and Ambassada. The album is being produced by Michael Malott, the person behind the entire Peter Tosh Tribute Album project and founder of The Tosh Foundation as well as, co-producer Matthew Potter and is being released on the newly formed Righteous Reggae Records label. The entire revenue from the sales of this compilation fund raiser release will go directly into the not-for-profit Peter Tosh Tribute Album, which features a wide array of top rock and reggae artists with combined record sales of over 500 Million records. The Peter Tosh Tribute Album will fund the construction of a free medical clinic, library, and the completion of The Peter Tosh Museum all in West Moreland, Jamaica. Further revenue from the Tosh Tribute Album will go towards a new program created by Malott called "Instruments for the Youth" which works in cooperation with C.F. Martin Guitars, the SIT Guitar String Company, Mid East Manufacturing and Ernie Ball to supply free musical instruments to impoverished and underprivileged children in Jamaica. Additional revenue will be directed to other worthwhile causes including The Ethiopian World Federation. Producers, Malott & Potter hope that the compilation album, slated for an August 5 release date will filter additional funding into the project which is needed to further the efforts of the project. The project had also recently introduced the "Buy a Brick" campaign where individuals and businesses can buy a brick for the Tosh Museum for a $25 donation and have their name added to the brick wall which appears on the project's official website www.ptosh.com. They will also receive a high quality certificate suitable for framing, declaring them an "official" owner of one brick. Additionally, their name will appear on a plaque which will be erected at the Tosh Museum itself. The full length, limited edition compilation album is available through the website and all proceeds from the sales will go towards the not-for-profit Tosh project. People are now able to pre-order their album and support this great cause and further the project's work towards raising funds needed to complete the project. Malott is looking to tie in ten sponsors at $150 each to raise the capital necessary to manufacture a thousand copies of the fund raising compilation CD. His $150 sponsor program will allow businesses to get exceptional exposure as there logo will be featured on the compilation CD and also through the projects website which has already received over 81,000 visitors in the three months the site has been up. The website continues to receive over a hundred hits daily and the site had just started to offer several versions of Officially licensed Peter Tosh tee shirts last month. Sponsors will also be included in all print advertisement for the release. Although the financial support could be better, Malott is very pleased with the non-financial support he has gotten on the project from many recording artists and fans. The project has already been mentioned in over 250 publications worldwide, as well as, radio. Lance O of Kulcha Shock Muzik donated a great PSA which continues to run on many reggae radio stations and has been instrumental on radio exposure for the project, Booyaka Magazine donated a half page ad and has been greatly supportive. Malott expresses that every major reggae label ignored any plea for support with the exception of Shanachie Records, no surprise to Malott who states that "reggae and it's artists have been exploited for years by the music industry". Malott claims that not only was Shanachie head, Randall Grass supportive, but that he has also bent over backwards to support the project in everyway he can. Malott also praises Jeanette Smith of Stone Tiger Entertainment for her continued support and assistance. Malott had recently turned down a major recording contract for the Tosh Tribute album stating that it would have taken too much away from the project, and the project has never been intended for anyone's commercial gain. A four song advance Peter Tosh Tribute Album EP will be available later this year featuring advance Peter Tosh material from top artists from the upcoming Peter Tosh Tribute Album release. The project will also be making a major concert announcement in the next couple weeks for a huge Peter Tosh Tribute Concert featuring several major artists including several appearing on the Tosh Tribute Album at Miami's, 15,000 seat Bayfront Amphitheatre in late October. "If everyone who has visited the website had donated $1, we'd just about have all the money needed to complete the entire project " states Malott. Donations may even be made by credit card via Paypal through the website and Malott hopes that at least a thousand people will show their support by buying one of the limited edition copies of Put My Faith In Jah. The producers predict the album will sell out prior to its official release date, so those wishing on picking up one of these limited edition collector's albums may wish to purchase their copy in advance. Pre-orders for Put My Faith in Jah are available through the website.
