From the rec.music.reggae newsgroup: I'm not sure the RMR faithful are aware of this or not, but the Grammy category "Best Reggae Album" is in danger of extinction. According to Roger Steffens (in the latest Beat magazine), only 17 qualifying entries were received in this category for 2002 -- and the minimum is 25. Unless people, AND THE RECORD LABELS speak up and make some noise, this category may go away in 2003. This would be a travesty... SO PLEASE -- make some noise.... Email the big labels (RAS, Heartbeat, VP, Penthouse, Shanachie, Island) and the smaller guys (Easy Star, ROIR, Blood & Fire, Echo Beach, Motion, Pressure Sounds) and tell them to the names of the albums YOU BELIEVE should be nomimated for a Grammy. I was really surprised by this pathetic Grammy input... I was under the impression that there was hundreds of entries. For more info, get the latest Beat magazine or email Roger Steffens regarding this matter (as he is the chairman for this category) Let's get RMR people involved and see some real Reggae Grammys...
