From Music Interactive: WENDY SHAW The reggae music industry has only a few exceptional female vocalists. Vocalists that when they sing, your heart becomes filled with emotion, your mind with good thoughts, and your eyes with joyful tears. Wendy Shaw is one of those exceptional vocalists. Many who have had the pleasure of seeing her perform do agree that she is a seasoned entertainer, and she has just what it takes to reach the top! Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Wendy Shaw has been in the business since 1987 when she joined an all female reggae band called Jahdeeda and became the band's lead singer. In 1989, she began a solo career, and it 's been non-stop since then. She now has 3 wonderful albums, music videos, and several hit singles of which she helped produce and compose. Her first album Praise His Majesty received rave reviews and is still in popular demand. A single from that album called, Reggae Music (is the music of the King), and a music video of the same were released prior to the album and aired internationally. Her 2nd album Passing Through the Flames was mastered on CD. It features Jamaica's premier band Roots Radics, and is supported by the 809 Horn section led by Dean Fraizer. This project was produced by Issachar Productions and co-produced by Dwight Pinkney of Underground Sound. Passing Through The Flames is authentic roots, rock, reggae. It is so well loved in Europe, Wendy was offered a licensing contract by Lush Records, Gotenburg, Sweden. Her 3rd album is a very special CD entitled Wendy Shaw....Sing Out! It was recorded in Jamaica, and it too features Jamaica's top producers, musicians and supporting vocalists. It contains a wide variety of selections; lovers rock dance hall and, of course, roots. The album is now available so order a copy! Wendy is an artist of professional quality. She has shared stages with some of the Best reggae entertainers in the business, some of which she considers to be her musical inspirations. Culture, Third World, Lucky Dube, Michael Rose, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Tony Rebel, Coco T, Everton Blender, Dennis Brown, and Freddie McGregor, just to name a few. She has also shared the stage with two more of her musical inspirations and friends, Judy Mowatt and Sister Carol. Wendy also gives nuf respect to Hortense Ellis, Rita Marley, and another music great, one who she is compared to constantly, Marcia Griffiths. Wendy enjoys performing and she know just how to get her audiences involved in her performances. She has proved this at two Bob Marley Day Festivals-Long Beach, CA, Reggae SumFest-Montego Bay, Jamaica, Reggae Ram Jam-Clarendon, Jamaica, The Epiphany-New Kingston, Jamaica, and the World Jam 65th Coronation Concert in honor of Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethopia. This concert was held in Hanover, Lucea, Jamaica To add to this top-notch list of venues, Wendy has performed at Reggae on the Coast-Oxnard, CA, One World Festival-Taos, NM, Tulsa Reggaefest-Tulsa, OK, Moab Reggaefest-Moab, UT, and not once but twice at the Kansas City Reggae Summer Fest Kansas City-MO. Wendy's style is unique, however, having been inspired by reggae's best in the business you'll see similarities to some of those forementioned. But there's one thing for sure, once you have seen Wendy Shaw for yourself, you'll agree she does have a style of her own.
