They then vacillated between calling themselves "The Europeans" and "The Psychedelic Furs," playing gigs under both names before permanently settling on the latter. The band initially consisted of Richard Butler (vocals), Tim Butler (bass guitar), Duncan Kilburn (saxophone), Paul Wilson (drums) and Roger Morris (guitars). By 1979, this line up had expanded to a sextet with Vince Ely replacing Wilson on drums and John Ashton being added on guitar. She will perform in an elegantly spare concert that showcases the immense beauty of the classic Brazilian songs and her lovely voice. She sings a duo concert with her guitarist, Romero Lubambo, one of the most celebrated Brazilian jazz musicians today. Gal Costa was one of the original Quatro Baianos (Four Baianos), along with Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethania and Gilberto Gil. They style the created, tropicalia was at the center of a revolution in Brazil that encompassed all aspects of art, music and culture – a unique fusion of classic Brazilian elements with the energy of psychedelia and US pop. Now Gal Costa has turned her vocal talents to an exploration of Brazilian jazz and the best elements of classic Brazilian compositions. Her more recent performances have been set in a cabaret style.
